Confirmation Bias

8 minutes (1 section)
Critical Thinking and Communication

Course Description

In today’s highly connected world, we can collect endless types of information with just a few clicks of a keyboard or swipes across a screen.

However, despite this modern ability, we often subconsciously collect information that reinforces our preconceptions, which leads to biased decision making. One reason for this lies in confirmation bias.

Confirmation bias is the tendency to only focus on information that supports one’s preexisting beliefs and desires while, at the same time, dismissing information that challenges them. This bias has a profound impact on our day to day lives, and understanding it can help us become more objective and impartial for better decision making.

In this course, learn about common examples of confirmation bias and how to overcome it to be more successful in everything you do!
